We have a great team at Hunter Street Eye Specialists. The leader of the team and dedicated practice manager is Leonie Newbold.

Leone is an also an Orthoptist with a strong clinical background in Cataract and LASIK eye surgery. She worked for many years in a large Ophthalmic Practice and has worked in laser vision correction for over 9 years as a Laser consultant, assisting in the Laser and cataract surgery procedures and counseling and following up patients.

Most recently she worked as a Refractive Consultant visiting many ophthalmic clinics within Australia to advise and improve their refractive outcomes.

She has now joined Hunter Street Eye Specialists and is the lynch pin for this leading multi-disciplinary eye care practice. Leone is responsible for systems management and quality assurance, which facilitate the excellent standard of patient care and ensures a focus on customer service.

Leone has a true commitment to Hunter Street Eye Specialists and will continue to ensure that the patient experience is the best in Parramatta. Leone is the main point of contact for most practice enquiries. Please feel free to contact Leone at the rooms. She will be more than happy to assist you.

We also have a team of orthoptists; orthoptists are university trained ophthalmic assistants who assist doctors. Michelle de Guia is our senior Orthoptist. She has a degree in Science and majored in Orthoptics at Sydney University, graduating in 1999. She worked for seven years in multidisciplinary practices that specialized in cataract, refractive, retinal and oculoplastic surgery before joining Hunter Street Eye Specialists.

Michelle is responsible for the assessment of all patients prior to seeing our specialists. She is particularly involved in the counseling and assessment of patients who are undergoing Laser refractive and cataract surgery. She also assists in minor surgery and intravitreal injections.She is married to Brian and has two energetic sons Isaiah aged 8 and Ambrose who is 2 years old.

Cindy Lieu is one of our star orthoptists here at Hunter Street Eye Specialists. Cindy is a 2008 new graduate from the University of Sydney with a degree in Applied Science (Orthoptics). She was awarded the Patricia Lance Clinical Excellence Prize Award for the class of 2008. Cindy has now happily settled in with the lovely team here at Hunter Street Eye Specialists. She is mainly responsible for preliminary patient assessment. Cindy’s role includes using new technologies that we have at our clinic to assist the ophthalmologists with patient eye care.

Our clerical staff are often who you have first contact with. Whether it is Gabi Kiraly, Nancy Slayton or Ashleigh Bierton, they will do their utmost to make you feel at home and to ensure you are looked after.

Gabriella Kiraly

Gabriella has degree in Bachelor of Applied Science (Orthoptics) from
the University of Sydney and seven years experience in refractive
procedures, including managing a successful state-of-the-art laser
refractive surgery.

Gabriella has been working at Hunter Street Eye Specialists since 2004
and was pivotal in establishing our current multi-disciplinary eye care
practice in Parramatta. Presently she works part time in a multi-faceted
role from assisting in reception, to counselling patients and helping
out with ocular assessments.

Gabriella also holds the post of Company Secretary of the Independent
Ophthalmic Network (www.ion.org.au), which is a professional
organisation for Ophthalmic professionals. This organisation supports
300 members, focusing on the commercial aspects of Ophthalmology. In
addition, Gabriella runs her own internet based recruitment advertising
agency, Eyedeal Careers (www.eyedealcareers.com) for allied health
professionals, which has been operating successfully in excess of ten
years.

Away from the clinic, Gabriella is a wife and proud mum of 2 of young
boys and loves spending time with her family and friends.
